ROBBIE Farah’s move to South Sydney has enjoyed mixed reactions from fans, but some club greats believe the Blues star will shine at Redfern in 2017.
Ron Coote, Mario Fenech and Craig Coleman are convinced that whatever caused Farah’s relationship with Jason Taylor to break down it won’t be a factor at his new club.
“I think they got him pretty cheap and he’s still a State of Origin player, so I think they’ve done pretty good,” Coote tells RLW.
“I rate Farah as a really good player and he plays a similar game to what Isaac Luke played at Souths and I think that’s what South lacked last season.”
Coleman echoes Coote’s sentiments and adds that Farah’s running game will be dangerous for the Bunnies.
“He’s a smart player, he knows when to run and when not to run and he’ll get those big boys going and he’ll pick the right times to run from dummy half off the back of them,” Coleman says.
Fenech says Souths fans who think signing Farah was the wrong move will be shown up with his efforts on the field.
“I know Robbie and he’s a leader and a fighter,” Fenech says.
“I’m sure that after all the turmoil he went through at the Tigers he’ll want to aim up and help lead the way at Souths.
“Personally, I think he’ll make a great contribution from a leadership perspective.”
