DAVID Fifita has agreed to a one-year extension with Super League side Wakefield.
The Knights were said to be chasing the former Sharks forward in an attempt to bring him back to the NRL but Fifita has instead decided to remain abroad for another season.
“I am really excited to get an extra year under my belt at Wakefield,” Fifita said.
“It is a fantastic club with a great set of fans and I cannot wait to get back into pre-season and get back out there on that field to repay all of their continued support.”
The Knights were also hopeful of securing a shock deal for twin brother Andrew in an attempt to reunite the pair in Newcastle, but any such hope looks to be dead.
