KNIGHTS premiership winning recruit Rory Kostjasyn has suffered a bizarre training ground injury.

The hooker was accidentally struck in the throat during a ball session and was taken to hospital for immediate attention.

After careful examination Kostjasyn was discharged but may face a battle now to be fit for the start of the season.

“Kostjasyn was hospitalised however he has been discharged today (Monday),” a Knights statement read.

“The 29-year-old will be reassessed in four to six weeks to determine a return date to training. At this stage, Kostjasyn is expected to be out for a minimum of six to eight weeks.”

Kostjasyn along with fellow utility and premiership winner Jamie Buhrer are the club’s main recruits for the upcoming season.
