PENRITH have released Chris Grevsmuhl on compassionate grounds effective immediately.

The Panthers confirmed Grevsmuhl has been granted an immediate release from his contract in order to deal with some personal issues.

The club has agreed to the release on compassionate grounds, to give Grevsmuhl the time away from the game that he requires.

Grevsmuhl played 14 NRL games for the Panthers after joining the club from the Rabbitohs midway through last season.

Grevsmuhl has played 43 first grade games in the NRL since debuting in 2015 and has scored 10 tries.
