PANTHERS CEO Brian Fletcher has responded to reports Bryce Cartwright was targeted in social media posts.

The NRL integrity unit was made aware of a series of vile social media posts aimed at the Panthers utility with the posts now linked to Cartwright’s ex-girlfriend.

“The club has been monitoring the behaviour of Bryce Cartwright’s ex-girlfriend for some time,” Fletcher said.

“The situation escalated over the weekend with serious threats being directed towards Bryce and those close to him via social media platforms.

“As a result, this is now a NSW Police matter. We are most appreciative of the swift response by NSW Police to this situation.

The social media account in question was suspended but the NRL integrity unit has gained access to the messages and is investigating the matter after speaking with the Panthers.

“The priority of Panthers is to ensure the protection, safety and wellbeing of Bryce, his partner and his family,” Fletcher reiterated.

“We are affording Bryce all the support we can during this difficult time.

“The club will be making no further comment until NSW Police have concluded their investigations.”
