RAIDERS wrecking-ball Junior Paulo has been hit with a suspension and will be forced to undergo community service following an off-field incident last year.
The prop, who was convicted of reckless driving and common assault late last year, will miss the opening clash of the 2017 season as part of a punishment handed down by the Raiders and the NRL Integrity Unit.
In addition to missing the Raiders round one clash with the Cowboys, Paulo was also not considered for selection in the Raiders’ Auckland Nines squad as well as the upcoming All Stars clash.
“The Raiders believe in upholding the integrity of the game and we’ve worked closely with the NRL to determine this outcome for Junior,” Raiders CEO Don Furner said.
“The NRL has allowed Junior the opportunity to play in the NRL trial match against the Knights on February 18 to preserve his match fitness ahead of the season, but we agreed he should miss one NRL match.”
