The South Sydney Rabbitohs have signed Anthony Cherrington for the 2017 season.
The 28-year-old played 19 NRL games for the Roosters from 2008 to 2009, and has most recently been plying his trade in the Queensland Cup for the Redcliffe Dolphins.
He’s been an intergral member of the Dolphins, and in 2015 was named Redcliffe’s First Grade Player of the Year.
Souths’ coach Michael Maguire says Cherrington will bolster his pack.
“Anthony has a lot to offer the Rabbitohs,” says Maguire.
“He is a versatile forward who can play both in the middle and on the edge. He comes to us with experience in rugby league and a good attitude to want to establish himself at the Rabbitohs. He will add to that depth and competition in our squad which will be a positive thing for our club.
“Anthony will be a great inclusion to what we’re building here at South Sydney.”
Cherrington was a former Junior Kiwi, and even made the New Zealand train-on squad for the 2008 World Cup.
