WESTS Tigers centre Tim Simona is aiming at a comeback from off-season shoulder surgery in the Auckland Nines tournament on February 4-5.
Simona was among the players involved in the unveiling of jerseys to be worn by the NRL teams in the event at Eden Park.
He says he loves playing in the event and couldn’t imagine a better way to get back into the swing of things after going under the knife.
“I had the shoulder done but it’s coming along well,” Simona says. “I’m working really hard with our physio to get it right.
“It’s been 11 weeks since I had the operation and my aim is to be back for the Auckland Nines, so that’s a good goal to have.
“I’m always very excited to play in the Nines and I remember last February I was always telling ‘JT’ [Tigers coach Jason Taylor] to put me on whenever I was on the sideline.
“I love playing the game. It’s very exciting and a good chance for all the young players in the game to showcase what they’ve got.”
